Wrath

(4)”…betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, (5) having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power and from these turn away. (6) From among these arise men who slyly work their way into households and captivate weak women loaded down with sins, led by various desires, (7) always learning and yet never able to come to an accurate knowledge of truth.” – The Second to Timothy
3:
4-7

Pride?
Fear?
Those who look at horrors as to say, “I want to feel something!”
You want to feel?
You who thinks the dark is frightening,
You who flees spirits,
You who are afraid of ghosts and bumps in the night.
Or are you brave?
You who does not frighten easily.

His wrath will come.
The penalty for pride is death.
They say, he is a fantasy, a ruse.
Ignore his call,
Ignore that he beckons to your heart,
…But do so at your own peril.

“But he has not called me,” you say.
Here now, he calls through his witness.
To you, he calls.
He who set the stars in place one by one,
He who made your heartbeat and set the breath in your lungs,
He who makes the demons shake and shudder,
He who brings dread to the foul murderous opposer.

The enemy looks to devour you,
Jah looks to give you life.
Jah calls to you but he does not shout.
Quiet… Quiet your mind.
For he whispers to those he has chosen,
He tugs at your heart gently.
You feel it, you cannot deny his love.
But if you do… know this:
He offered you a gift but you let the world steal it away from you.

You who do not read,
You know more than Moses?
You know more than Solomon?
You know more than Isaiah?
You know more than Elijah?
You know more than John the Baptizer?
You know more than… Christ Jesus?
From what book did you discern your beliefs?
From which wise man did you ascertain?
You… the willingly blind, I fear for you.
I am a sinner like you and yet I call to him with zeal.

You say, he surely is not real.
Surely.
Who with wisdom gave you the answers?
Are you willing to stake your life?
We are all toying with eternity,
Toying with death.
You mock,
You scoff,
You know for certain,
Yet he still whispers.
It’s your pride that makes you flee his call.
For pride, Jah will give an answer.
In fact, for pride, he has only one answer:
Wrath.
