The Truth: Divine Justice, Free Will and Christ Jesus

“Free will is a divine gift, and to retract it based on future choices would mean negating the very essence of what it means to be created in God’s image…”

Satan himself was granted free will, and though he chose to rebel, God, being just, allowed him to exercise that freedom. To prevent him from acting would be no different from preventing human agency. Yet, Jehovah has made it clear that while He permits Satan’s influence for a time, justice will ultimately be served (Revelation 20:10). God’s allowance of evil does not mean He condones it; rather, He has a greater purpose that requires time to unfold (Ecclesiastes 8:11).

Jehovah permitted mankind’s fall because He sees beyond temporary suffering, envisioning a future in which evil is eradicated and humanity is restored to perfection (Revelation 21:3, 4). The reality of free will in imperfect beings inevitably brings hardship, for anything that is not God is prone to falter. However, allowing humanity to stumble, learn, and ultimately seek redemption gives meaning to human existence. It ensures that those who choose righteousness do so with full understanding and ownership of their choice. Through this process, mankind is not merely given salvation, but has the opportunity to prove its loyalty to Jehovah. Those who suffer innocently will be resurrected to eternal life (Acts 24:15), and those who have sinned but remain willing to repent will have their chance at redemption (Ezekiel 18:23, 32).

The suffering that exists today is largely a result of human choices and the influence of Satan, not the direct hand of God (James 1:13-15). Humanity was deceived into believing it could rule itself without God (Genesis 3:4, 5), and history has shown the devastating consequences of such a belief (Jeremiah 10:23). God allows this to continue so that it may be fully demonstrated that humans cannot govern themselves apart from Him. This period of self-rule is not an abandonment, but a test that reveals the necessity of divine guidance (Psalm 146:3).

To counter the adversary’s power, God has provided mankind with His Word, the Bible, as a means of resisting Satan’s influence (Ephesians 6:11-13). If all of humanity followed its principles, the world would be a just and uncorrupt place, but as it stands, the devil and those who choose evil ensure that such unity is not realized. However, those who dedicate themselves to Jehovah and His truth will be redeemed through Christ, ultimately inheriting the paradise originally intended for them (Luke 23:43; Isaiah 65:21-23).

Christ’s role is pivotal in this grand design. Adam, as the first perfect man, fell due to Satan’s deception, resulting in sin and death for all his offspring (Romans 5:12). Justice required an equivalent payment: a perfect human life for a perfect human life. Jesus, born of a woman yet untouched by sin, fulfilled this requirement, offering himself as the ransom to redeem humanity (1 Timothy 2:5, 6). Through his flawless obedience and sacrifice, he not only provided atonement, but also proved that a man, even in a fallen world, could choose complete submission to God (Hebrews 4:15).

The coming of Christ was made possible through Jehovah’s guidance of a chosen people. Despite their many trials and periods of disobedience, Israel was disciplined, not as a tyrant would subjugate his subjects, but as a father disciplines his children (Proverbs 3:11, 12). This process of refinement ultimately led to the birth of Jesus through a blameless woman, Mary, who was chosen to carry out God’s redemptive plan (Luke 1:30-32). Now, those who recognize the truth are called to spread the good news of salvation, inviting all who are willing to choose eternal life by adhering to God’s Word (Matthew 24:14).

God has allowed humanity to see firsthand the consequences of sin, corruption, and satanic influence. He once intervened with the flood, not to impose tyranny, but to cleanse the earth of physical abominations resulting from angelic rebellion (Genesis 6:1-5; 7:21-23). Afterward, He forbade spiritual entities from manifesting in fleshly form, but continued to allow them to exert influence, making a clear distinction between free will within spiritual bounds and unlawful interference in the physical world (Jude 6).

We now stand in the final stages of human self-rule, where mankind has been given ample time to prove whether it can govern itself without divine intervention. The result has been clear: without Jehovah, humanity falls into chaos, suffering, and destruction (2 Timothy 3:1-5). Satan’s time is short, and those who remain in darkness will either perish in their rebellion or be given one final chance to repent (Revelation 12:12).

Ultimately, Jehovah’s justice, patience, and love are revealed through this process. He is neither absent nor indifferent. He is allowing humanity to see the truth for itself. Those who choose Him will see a world where suffering and evil no longer exist, where righteousness prevails, and where eternal life in paradise is granted to those who remain faithful (Isaiah 11:6-9; Revelation 22:14).
